Poo and bogies featured quite heavily in this mornings shoot with the fabulous Miles and Jacob, thankfully not literally but what else would you expect a 3 and 7 year old boy to find hilarious, oh and this 41 year old boy too! One of the reasons I love this job so much!

The brothers popped along for their family photo shoot after Mum and Dad won a prize draw at our local school fete and what a fantastic family they are. Fun loving, vibrant and cheeky but exceptionally polite and a real pleasure to spend time with.

3 year old Jacob was first to take the stage and took no time at all to relax and let his lovely bubbly personality show. Older brother Miles was naturally a little more self conscious being that touch older but, with a little coaxing and fooling around, soon relaxed and forgot the camera was even there!

Technical ability aside, when it comes to successfully photographing children, endless patience, a genuine warmth plus a childish sense of humour is what will bag you those winning shots.

After capturing a lovely variety of individual portraits I then moved swiftly onto some sibling shots of the two brothers, before their goodwill and patience ran out. I like to keep sibling shots simple and unposed, much like my individual portraits, almost candid if at all possible. I want to capture natural relationships and interactions, the boys gave me everything I wanted with bags of charisma.

Can’t think of many ways I’d rather spend a Tuesday morning! Thanks Miles, Jacob and of course mum and dad for such a wonderful shoot…
