Introducing brothers James and Daniel who came to the studio today from Stony stratford, near Milton Keynes, to have their children’s portraits photographed.

We’ve blogged about beautiful 2 year olds before – full of character and expression; introducing stunning Daniel, whose blonde hair and baby blue eyes are captivating. Also introducing older brother James, whose huge smile lit up the studio, with gorgeous freckles that look amazing in his photos. The photography doesn’t show how beautifully behaved James was, with the patience of a much older child while waiting for Daniel to settle into the studio.

It’s fair to say, when tiny children don’t want to do something they really can be strong willed. It was only mum who could work the magic today to get Daniel laughing and giggling enough to get a range of shots which included the all important smiles. We’re all for the intensity of non smiley shots but always hope to capture a few images which are more relaxed and laughing. Mums magic formula included lots of kisses, tickling and active involvement which we always encourage with family shoots, which Daniel couldn’t resist. A bit of good old fashioned bribery also helped with the odd biscuit to help appease. Its also important not to rush, to allow a little one time to run around and burn off some of their enormous energy supply, we know that asking them to sit still is painful really!

James was curious about the whole process, happy to watch and make suggestions and equally happy to be in front of the lens. A quick game of peek a boo from the sofa worked well to secure a couple of joint shots of the two brothers together. We also smiled at the fact that James brought his favourite teddy along for the ride, and love the shot of them together.

As the shoot came to a close and we tried to get a few final shots, we unashamedly resorted to bribery and our faithful family dog, Bram made his guest appearance which we’ve called on a few times recently! We also played some of the children’s favourite music suggested by mum, which had a soothing effect and the boys went home looking worn out! We’re sure the drive back to Milton Keynes will have been a sleep filled one.

After a fun filled shoot, we hope mum likes the results as much as we do, we think her boys look amazing. Thanks to mum for keeping the momentum going and her patience.
