Family Photography Northampton: The Cleary Family

A bit of warmth to help thaw out a chilly January morning! Introducing a family photography session of the Cleary family from Northampton, featuring 4 year old Imogen and 17 month old twins, Jacob and Esmae. The photoshoot was given as a lovely personal gift to celebrate the birth of the twins by an Auntie and past client of ours.

We’d planned the photo shoot for first thing in the morning as the twins still enjoyed a nap late morning and we wanted them nice and fresh.  When the family arrived at the studio both Imogen and the twins understandably took a few minutes to warm to their surroundings. After a cuppa and chat, the children soon started to feel comfortable with both me and the surroundings.

First up was Imogen who, although a little unsure at first, soon relaxed into the shoot and started letting me capture her lovely smiley character. As you may know, I normally favour black and white portraiture but on editing this shoot decided that it looked equally as beautiful in colour, those soft colour warm tones gave the shoot a lovely velvety quality and their big wide brown eyes matched the backdrop perfectly!

Next up was Esmae and Jacob. The twins took no time at all to feel at ease in front of the camera (thanks in no small part to their big Sister leading the way) and gave us a wonderfully confident display of their natural cheekiness. Mum and Dad got fully stuck in too, which I believe always results in a more successful and varied shoot.

After taking the individual photo’s we then moved onto capturing all the children together, which we all knew would prove very interesting!  The kids were starting to tire and attempting to persuade a 4 year old and her two 17 month old siblings to sit still, was always going to prove interesting!

With a little patience, a few tears and not to mention a bit of good old fashioned bribery, we won… just!  Group portraits are always a challenge at this age but well worth a little persistence.

Overall a massive thanks to Mum, Dad and of course all three children, for a great shoot.  Really looking forward to presenting you with the full set of portraits in a few days time at your viewing.
