Family Portrait Photography Banbury
Meet gorgeous Faith from Banbury, our Northampton Baby Show 2015 competition winner, who came for a children’s photography session at our studio this weekend. Faith is a vibrant, curious and fun loving 18 month old who just adores teddy bears! (Please click on an image to see it bigger)
We normally stay impartial on the subject of our favourite portraits to allow our clients to discover their own, but we love Faith’s natural facial expression looking away from the camera and in contrast, her energy in the photo above. In fact it’s nearly always the candid shots that are the strongest and the reason we do what we do. The direct smile-and-say-cheese shots are often what people expect of children’s portrait photography, whereas we always try to capture a range of the child’s natural expressions that parents know and love so well.
Toddlers are often our trickiest customers, but Faith made our job easy. She was here to have fun, and fun we had! We all spent a good deal of time playing with the teddy bears to get her laughing and her expressions were of delight and sheer pleasure to be in the spotlight. Mum and dad knew just how to get her chuckling, and we threw our own awkwardness away to join in with a few animal noises and dancing to the tune of Old Macdonald! It worked a treat. (We were secretly pleased for the excuse to have a sing a long to Postman Pat, who wouldn’t be?)
Toddlers have such short attention spans that we always factor plenty of non-photographing time into our sessions. Faith’s reward for sitting still for a while was to have a good old wander round the studio, meet our family dog and to switch over to some standing shots. Of course, she preferred then to sit so we piled her teddies round her and this gave us a final chance to get some more natural shots of her playing and concentrating. Simply gorgeous!
Over to you mum and dad to pick your favourite image, we couldn’t pin point it down ourselves and you have our sympathy…. with so many beautiful shots it’s an unenviable task!!
