Introducing Ralph and Alex from the Grange Park area of Northampton. These young lads popped by the studio over the weekend, to have their family portraits photographed, after Mum had been recommended by a good friend whose children I’d photographed a few weeks earlier. Always such a compliment when clients refer us onto their friends, means we must be getting something right!
The brothers were very confident and neither had any problem relaxing into the shoot. Alex, who is 7, was first up and astonished even me with his range of expressions, some of which I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen before now! Like most children, he had his default cheesy grin, although after a few minutes casually chatting he soon delivered a lovely range of natural smiles.
Big brother Ralph, who’s 10, was also very natural in front of the camera and although not quite displaying the same repertoire of expressions as Alex, he still gave me some really lovely relaxed and natural portraits.
I’ve recently started to pull back a little more from my normally very tight cropped portraits and capture a few 3/4 length shots. This gave Alex even more opportunity to play around with me. This photo kills me and kind of sums up his fun loving character. Ralph was way too cool for all that!
A massive thanks to Ralph and Alex for giving me a glimpse into their vibrant young world and letting me capture their big personalities. Plus, as always, a big thanks to Mum and Dad for letting me have the privilege of photographing their young family. Look forward to seeing you again soon!
