A beautiful name for a beautiful baby boy. Meet Rowan, at only 7 months he’s fascinated by the world around him and just doesn’t stop smiling. He’s already very sociable and confident, happy to be somewhere new and totally at ease from the minute he arrived from his short journey from Milton Keynes. He also makes a range of cute gurgles and baby sounds, in short, he’s absolutely gorgeous.
This shoot happened in record breaking time. We don’t rush, and we always talk about the need for children to settle in to the studio in their own time. Equally, we don’t hang about when we’re good to go else we risk missing the moment. Rowan started beaming at us the minute he got here, and barely stopped so we got straight to work.
On the beanbag, we got loads of smiles and a few coy glances as we interacted with him. He was intrigued by our puppet which we used to help hold his interest which gave some variety to his otherwise non-stop smiles. He has the most beautiful features with big wide eyes and a delicate mouth which look amazing in his images.
Being on his tummy on the beanbag was something he clearly thought he’d grown out of, and immediately started reversing off it so we had to shoot this one quick!
Rowan seemed puzzled when we sat him on the floor, but soon enjoyed a few toys. We let him play for a few minutes before giving him some standing time with dad, as the shot with him upright both gave him variety of movement during the shoot, but also looks really cute and includes an otherwise camera shy parent! As neither of us love being photographed, we totally understand when parents decline to be in the shot, but this one is the perfect solution.
This little boy made it look easy! To be honest, when children as as relaxed as this it doesn’t feel like work, and it’s an absolute pleasure and a privilege to spend time together. Our week always consists of a mix of childhood temperaments, and we were lucky with little Rowan who was incredibly laid back. Thanks to mum for arranging the shoot and to dad for bringing him along today, for what was a brief but thoroughly enjoyable shoot.
