Newborn Photoshoot Great Houghton, Near Northampton

Introducing the gorgeous 7 day old baby Georgia from Great Houghton near Northampton, who popped by the studio recently to have her newborn photographs taken. With this shoot, we’d already meet mum in advance for an informal chat over a cuppa, which is a great way to iron out any uncertainties. It’s always great to catch up at the actual shoot after the birth and helps keep the process personal and informal.

We always try and reserve a provisional shoot date which is the advantage of prior booking, as we’re careful with the number of newborn shoots we book each week to ensure we can flex with dates… babies pretty much never arrive on time!

Georgia was a dream, with a placid temperament and sleepiness which made it easy to pose. She loved being wrapped, and was settled when snuggled in a stretch wrap which provides both a great aesthetic texture plus lovely warmth and containment for the baby. She peered at us through curious sleepy eyes with some beautiful baby facial expressions, and her little hands just on show out the top of the material.

Mum allowed us the freedom to position Georgia as we saw fit, and we personally love the head on hands pose, appearing super sleepy and comfortable. These shots are always achieved with the utmost care for safety and comfort, with a supporting hand later taken out in photoshop editing or with someone spotting right next to her in case she startled or moved. These shots are known as composites and newborn safety is the most important and overriding consideration of any shoot.

Georgia looked so cute on her side we couldn’t resist a teddy bear shot for a cute finish. As ever, a massive thanks to mum and baby Georgia for such a lovely relaxed newborn shoot.
