Beautiful Nevaeh visited us this week for her children’s portrait photography. Although sleepy from her journey from Milton Keynes, she soon woke with her huge smile, raring to get going with her photo shoot.
With two big teddy bears in tow, it was a good game of photograph teddy before enticing her to take the spotlight herself; she rather liked the game and wasn’t quite ready to stop! She loved operating the camera with Andy to make the lights flash which helped her get familiar with the lens. She was then happy to sit for a while and smile for the camera. When this started to get boring, we brought in the wind machine to keep the shoot momentum allowing us to get some amazing windswept shots which captured the amusement in her face. However, the draught created was a bit chilly so we didn’t hang about, a shivering 2 year old does not make a good photo!
Afterwards, she needed to stretch out and this was when we really got to enjoy her 2 year old energy. This is the bit of any shoot with a 2 year old when we have to work fast. Children’s attention spans soon wane, and there is much to explore. (It’s also the reason why our lights are wall mounted so there are no trailing leads.) We changed the set around a bit to allow her space to move around, with a brief appearance from the chaise long for variety, until she eventually crashed on the beanbag which was great opportunity for a close up of her laughing.
Nevaeh just didn’t stop smiling throughout. She loved the opportunity to play amongst our undivided attention and to check out the studio. We slowed things down eventually when her excitement peaked and unashamedly, bribery helped, bringing out our family dog for a guest appearance which children often really enjoy, and helps to calm. Thankfully he’s grown up with our own children and is quite used to all manner of fussing, no matter how keen!
Thanks to Nevaeh and mum for a vibrant children’s portrait shoot, with some gorgeous results, we hope you enjoy them.
