When most people wake from a snooze, there’s no way they’d wake up as chilled and relaxed as the lovely 7 month old Harriet who came for baby photography from Olney today. A short 40 minute drive from Milton Keynes allowed perfect time for a mid morning nap, very civilised we think!
It’s so important to allow babies and children time to adjust to a setting like the studio. No one likes to be asked to perform the minute they arrive for a photo shoot and Harriet sensibly spent a few minutes working it all out, which allowed time for Andy to capture the informal, natural facial expressions which are so characterful.
The studio puppets made an appearance and we all got covered in fluff, but Harriet seemed to enjoy the entertainment, although it has to be said mum was best at this. The tried and tested game of Peebo worked its magic, and soon got Harriet laughing for the camera.
We’re often reminded by our mini visitors of how challenging it is to be a young baby due to the demands of growing and teething, and after a period of focus in front of the camera, most babies like to have a few minutes on their tummy or back for a change of scene and a well learnt rest! Harriet certainly responded well to this.
Non mobile babies have limits as to the posing repertoire that can be achieved, and this is the strength of our photography, as for us, its all about facial expressions. We use toys sometimes for a handful of images that convey delight while playing or concentrated effort such as turning the page of a book, but they’re used as a means to an end rather than as a direct prop.
Harriet’s images look amazing as they showcase her beautiful eyes and really capture her baby features, with the cutest smile that can’t help but draw you in.
Thanks to mum, dad and Harriet for a fun and particularly speedy shoot!
